In 1995, she received a bachelor's degree from South Carolina State University.After a stint with several off-Broadway stage productions, independent and short films Kinya landed a handful of national commercials which lead to bigger roles in television and film.In 2003, Kinya executive produced the short film, White Wine in the Summer which debuted at the New York International Film Festival.In 2005, Kinya took a slight intermission from her acting career to raise a family.
