Keena is believed to be a German Shorthair Pointer / Labrador Retriever Mix, bred specifically to bring out the best in both breeds. However, Keena was discarded by her owner and found in the middle of a highway in southern Iowa, with her sister, Aiko at approximately 4 weeks old. She was rescued and taken to the Raccoon Valley Animal Sanctuary & Rescue, where she was nurtured back to health.Being an all black dog, which are often times passed over for adoption in shelters and rescues, Keena is a wonderful example of how a rescue dog can be a wonderful companion and well balanced dog.Naturally intelligent, Keena serves as a Canine Ambassador for RVAS, teaching children dog safety and helps the staff and volunteers rehabilitate other dogs, increasing their chances for adoption.
