In the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise, he is best known as playing Chirag Gupta.Brar was born on January 18, 1999 in Redmond, Washington to proud Indian parents Jasbinder and Harinder Brar who are of Indian ancestry and has one older sibling, a sister named Sabreena. He was raised in Bothell, Washington. In an amazing trivia, He was raised bilingual, speaking English and Punjabi and fluent Hindi as well. Before his movie fame on the big screen, Brar studied acting at Patti Kalles workshops, at Cedar Wood Elementary School with John Robert Powers and Patti Kalles.Brar began his acting career at the age of just 11. His first role on the big screen was as an Indian middle school student, Chirag Gupta, in the film Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010). Because he was born and raised in the United States, he naturally speaks with an American accent. He trained with a dialect coach to improve and perfect his Indian accent for the role before appearing in Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010).In April 2010, he appeared in the Seeds of Compassion advertorial campaign announcing the Dalai Lama's visit to Seattle, as well as appearing in commercials for Shell Gasoline and Committee for Children.In March 2011, Brar reprised his role as Chriag Gupta in the film sequel Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2011). Confirmed in October 2011, He reprised his role yet again for the second sequel, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (2012). In September 2011, Brar landed the role of 10-year-old Indian adopted Ravi Ross on the Disney Channel show Jessie (2011). During pre-production of the show, the role of Ravi was originally intended to be a Hispanic boy named Javier from South America, but casting directors and producers were so impressed with Brar's acting during the audition process that they decided to recreate the role for him. He has had supporting roles in three Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies with Zachary Gordon, Chloe Grace Moretz and Robert Capron. In 2015, a new Disney Channel series Bunk'd (2015), a spin-off of Jessie (2011), was announced in which Brar will reprise his role as Ravi Ross.Brar lives in the Los Angeles area with his parents and sister. He is quite fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi. He is the son of Jasbinder and Harinder Brar. He has an older sister named Sabreena.
