Jovanny Venegas was born in El Paso, Texas, border city to Ciudad Juárez, Mexico where most of his family originates from. At the age of 5 Jovanny began his moving journey as his stepfather was serving (retired) in the U.S. Army. Jovanny briefly moved to Louisiana, New York, Puerto Rico then Giessen Germany where he spent 6 1/2 years. In Germany Jovanny attended Giessen American Elementary and Giessen Middle/High School, where he took ESL (English as a Second Language) classes and learned English with a diverse group of students from all over the world who had parents in the military, Jovanny was fluent by the age of 7-8.At a young age Jovanny's step father taught him skills on how to possible survive terrorist attacks and kidnappings, as Americans stationed in Germany experienced many terrorist threats against the U.S. Military, their families, and other civilians working with Americans. Jovanny's school was actually guarded by U.S. Army tanks and soldiers stationed there to protect the school in case of any attack.After Germany, the family moved to Ft. Hood, Texas, where Jovanny attended and graduated high school in Killeen, Texas. While attended school in Texas, Jovanny got mixed up with the wrong crowd, and was sent to alternative school for fighting. After seeing many of his peers end up dropping out, in jail, or worse, Jovanny cleaned up his act when he returned back to high school. While in school Jovanny took a media production course, and that is when his love for the entertainment industry started. Jovanny recorded a mix tape as a radio personality for school. One of Jovanny's mother's friend heard the tape, loved it and told him that she knew someone who worked at a local radio station in downtown Killeen, Texas, and if he was serious about radio she could connect the two. A call was made, and Jovanny interviewed, and landed an unpaid internship, where Jovanny spent all of his free time. At first Jovanny's responsibilities consisted of cleaning, sorting and filing, but as he cleaned and sorted he would study artist contracts, bookings, and would study the equipment at the station.One day a radio DJ got sick, Jovanny was at the station and the manager asked him if he wanted to go on air, and cover for him. Jovanny eagerly said yes, but was so nervous he could barely get any words out on air. The station manager introduced him on air and told the listeners that he was 15 years old and was still learning. Jovanny then started receiving calls of encouragement and support. Jovanny continued to study his craft until he landed his own radio show, making him the youngest radio personality with his own show in Texas at the time.During his years in radio, and working as a club DJ and host Jovanny endured many obstacles, and was exposed to many sides of the entertainment industry due to his young age. But with his determination to succeed he was able to overcome many obstacles, his show was #1 at the station for 5 years in a row, worked with many major artists, recorded many commercials, and also became the youngest Mix-Show Reporter for "Dance Music Authority' in Chicago which was the Nation's #1 Source for Dance & Club Music and radio mix-shows worldwide.After leaving radio he worked for Telemundo/NBC mun2 San Antonio and made Texas a vital market. After mun2 he moved to Los Angeles, CA and graduated from Santa Ana College in 2006. In 2010 he graduated from California State University Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and Film.Jovanny says he's seen and has been exposed to a variety of things, which helps him with his acting. As almost all the characters he's portrayed he's seen / met or dealt with in real life before.In addition to acting, Jovanny hosts & produces various entertainment news segments and has interviewed dozens of A-List stars such as John Travolta, the late Paul Walker, Sandra Bullock, Sofia Vergara, Bobby Brown, Paula Abdul, Reese Witherspoon, Elizabeth Berkley, Chris Perez, AB Quintanilla among many more. Jovanny has won various awards, and has hosted / reported at numerous high profile events from the Cannes Film Festival, MTV VMA's, BET Awards, Grammy Awards among dozens more.At the end of 2015 Jovanny was honored in celebration of community, heritage, and good citizenship. The event was held in recognition of Angelenos who are consistently doing great things to give back to their community. Jovanny was recognized for his work in opening doors for students in media and communications by placing them front and center to work at A-list red carpet events in collaboration with RedAlertLive.com, in addition to producing the anti-crystal meth documentary "My Life on Meth," aimed to bring awareness and deter it's use. The film received a grant from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and California State University, Los Angeles. Other honorees of the night included Brody Jenner, Ryan Phillippe, Nick Zano, among many more.Jovanny also works with 'The Look At Me Now!' Foundation. A program who's main focus is at-risk students. The motivation is to enrich the lives of at-risk students through mentorship, training, encouragement, empowerment & development in collaboration with RedAlertLive.com.
