Joshua grew up in a log cabin built by his father, a construction worker, and raised by his mother, a waitress; on a rural 20-acre pastureland near Memphis, TN. He attended twelve years of Roman Catholic prep school. While in elementary school, Josh first tried to act by auditioning for Rooster in "Annie". After merely getting in the chorus, he then worked hard enough to be voted a voice-over narration part as well. The next year he played the Mayor in "Bye-Bye Birdie". By eight grade he was cast as Puck in a reading of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". In high school, Joshua rarely acted. He worked odd jobs from country club valet to cook at a Mexican restaurant. He would try out for his school's own news show, Channel One, unsuccessfully. As a graduating senior, Josh interviewed his fellow classmates on their lessons learned while in school; a group project similar to an indie film, only to receive a D on the project. Later in his early twenties, Joshua became a model/talent for the Donna Groff Agency. He would attend AMTC 2000 in Orlando. There he would win Honorable Mention for his Male commercial.
