Award winning producer Joshua D. Maurer is recognized as one of Hollywood's most preeminent film makers of historical dramas and literary adaptations, earning him a much deserved reputation for meticulous research, historical accuracy and a storyteller with a passion for projects of exceptional quality and excellence.He is the president, along with his wife and producing partner Alixandre Witlin, of City Entertainment, a motion picture and television production company whose films and television movies and miniseries and series have garnered over 32 Emmy nominations and wins, including 7 Golden Globe, WGA, DGA, SAG, NAACP, Satellite, PGA, Prism, Gracie Award, Imagen and Alma honors, just to name a few of the many accolades awarded their critically acclaimed projects.Joshua is the only producer in the history of the Producers Guild of America to be awarded two nominations in the same year in the same category for the prestigious David L. Wolper Producer of the Year Award for Longform Television.In addition to producing, Maurer is also a screenwriter, having written for HBO, Showtime, ABC, NBC, CBS, FX, Fox, AMC, A&E, Lifetime, Hallmark Hall of Fame, Paramount, Lionsgate, FTVS, Sony, Spike and Miramax.As an actor, Josh is best known for his groundbreaking portrayal of Private Roger Horn in the acclaimed CBS television series Tour of Duty. Josh was born and raised in New Jersey, growing up in the town of West Orange. Josh began his professional training with Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis and then received his B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College in history and drama. He later went on to star in a number of television movies and films. Novelist Paul Auster is his cousin.
