José Antonio Zarzalejos (Bilbao 1954) has a degree in Law from the University of Deusto, but began to establish his career in journalism in the disappeared Gaceta del Norte de Bilbao. In 1989 he became part of the writing team of the newspaper El Correo, only one year later he became its deputy director and in 1993 he was appointed director of the newspaper and president of the Editorial Board of the newspaper's editorial group. Today he is an opinion columnist and political analyst on television. He is the brother of Javier Zarzalejos, Secretary General of the Presidency during the Government of José María Aznar, who attended as a government representative in the conversations with the Dome of Switzerland in 1999, and of Charo Zarzalejos, also a journalist.
