Born Joel Bentcell Harold, to mother Annette, home health care nurse for the elderly, and father Jasper Harold, retired naval shipyard worker. His middle class upbringing molded him to be hard working entrepreneur, also his family's observation of the Baptist faith kept him grounded.His East San Diego neighborhood was a majority of Mexican and African American, which had a major influence on Joel's urban life. Harold wasn't the best student but his charming personality and quick tongue were renowned for getting him and his Twin out of trouble.Joel's family consist of two Brothers, an older one which is Jasper Jr. and His twin Joseph, two sister the youngest Annette Jr. and the oldest Vershawn, His family of five. Being Such a pack house Joel and his twin brother were always getting into trouble with siblings or at school. At 16, Joel did his first play, Romeo and Juliet, which he hated but did spark a interest in character role playing. At the end of his sophomore year of High School, Him and His Family Move to Woodstock, GA and finish of his high school years at Woodstock High school. Not use to going to a school of majority Caucasian, he was culture shock, but once again his charming personality and quick tongue, help gain is confidence back in school.At 18, his senior year in high school, he book his first supporting role in "Cupid Arrow" Starring C.Thomas Howell, working with such professional actors, re-flame his spark in acting, which will never go out. But his parents seen different, they did not want Joel to venture his acting career, they wanted him to finish college and get a good job as the rest of the world. So being the child as Joel is, He Finish three years of schooling and move to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.
