Jay was born and spent most of his childhood in Tuscumbia, Alabama. When he was 12 years old, his family moved to Bel Air Maryland where Jay finished High school. He played on the Varsity teams for Basketball and Football in High School, but it was ultimately Boxing that occupied most of his attention. He competed in Golden Glove tournaments in Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama and Maryland. This interest would later evolve into Mixed Martial Arts which is now a passion. He now trains in a variety of striking and grappling arts. After Graduating High School Jay enlisted in the United States Navy. HE was a Navy SEAL candidate although unable to complete the program, He finished his enlistment in The Navy as a member of The USS San Jacinto VBSS (Vessel Board Search and Seizure) team.After being honorably discharged in 2008, Jay spent a year traveling around the United States training in different (MMA) gyms and working in various places. After being approached by a commercial agent while bar-tending in Miami, Jay decided to move to New York City to Study the method of acting and to pursue theatre roles.After five years in New York of studying and accumulating credits in Theatre, Television, Film, Music Videos and commercials, Jay moved to Los Angeles in January 2014 to fully pursue a career in Hollywood. Jay believes training and conditioning are central to success. Profusely studying the Method, specifically that of Lee Strasberg and his sensory work, Jay boasts a large amount of courses studied while in New York. Schools include The Upright Citizens Brigade, HB Studio, Numerous On-Camera courses at One on One, and a two year program with coach and mentor Anthony Abeson, a student of Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler. Jay is a fan of every type music, he plays the guitar and is an adept hip hop dancer who likes to write rap music as well. He also has a passion for comedy and has performed with Improv teams at UCB and The Peoples Improv theater.
