With a performance career spanning Broadway and off, to voiceover and television, James has been involved in the development of dozens of new works for the stage as an award-winning actor, writer, producer, and director.Recent television appearances on CBS' The Good Fight, and Madam Secretary, and his voiceover career spans more than 100 commercials and several dozen audiobooks across several genres for Audible and Findaway, including a number of USA Today best-selling romance novels.He has worked with legendary theatre outfits ranging from Riverdance to Sundance, from Jesus Christ Superstar to Forbidden Broadway, and organizations including New Dramatists, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, the O'Neill Theatre Center, Playwrights Horizons, Manhattan Theatre Club, Goodspeed Musicals, the Vineyard, Village Theatre, and many more.He is part of the musical theatre writing team Burwell & Sasser, whose original works include CUBAMOR, Bottle Shock (based on the 2008 cult hit wine movie), and Le Comte Noir. He is also the book writer for Looking for Christmas with country music legend Clint Black, which had its world premiere at the Old Globe in San Diego in 2018. His television pilot Forsyth County has garnered several awards and was a quarterfinalist for the LA International Screenplay Awards.James was born in Tokyo, Japan, thanks to Air Force parents, and grew up in West Germany (where his first professional career was as a boy soprano), and Northern California. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Manhattan School of Music, attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art Summer Intensive, and received an MFA from the NYU-Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.
