Ian Cashmore was born one month premature at Luton & Dunstable hospital on 28th May 1970 in Luton, Bedfordshire, UK.When he was four, his parents Ray Cashmore and Patricia Cashmore (nee Doyle) moved near to Leaveden Studios (famous for: Star Wars / Harry Potter / Lord of the Rings / Superman etc), Watford in Hertfordshire, and Ian spent the best part of the next 30 years in the area moving a further 5 times. At infant and junior level he attended Kingsway School in Garston, and completed his last Junior year at Watford Fields School in Watford. Ian then moved onto Senior level (high school) at Bushey Hall School, in Bushey. In 1987 Ian graduated to Watford College (now the University of Hertfordshire) where he studied photography, media and journalism. He also took a side course in television and video production. He successfully completed his two-year course with an HND qualification, and an NTC in journalism.Ian began his media career in 1987-89 with placements in news organisations such as Capital Radio (London), BBC Television (London), Westminster Press Group of newspapers and Central Television (Documentaries Dept).Ian's first acting role came at only 15 (in 1985) when he played the night-watchman in the Palace Theatre production of the musical - Oliver! But his first on-screen role was as an extra in the movie "Lifeforce" which was part-filmed at an American school near his high school in Bushey.Ian's big TV break though came in 1997 when he began presenting the Discovery Channel series: Ghosthunters. This has lead to him now becoming a renowned expert in the field, and the first point of contact for media producers all over the world who have an interest in the paranormal.Ian's schedule is filled between filming ghosthunters with personal appearances on TV and radio shows all round the globe.Since Discovery sold the programme all over the world (and it was released in 2002 on VHS and DVD) Ian's fan base is as far afield as the Phillipines, the USA, Canada and Australia!Ian now lives around 130 miles away from the place of his youth, in Lincolnshire, UK. However, he still spends a substantial amount of his time in the south of the UK! Show less «
