Hal studied drama throughout his education, in addition to attending Acting camps during school holidays. In Hal's final senior year, he was shortlisted for 'OnStage' which recognises excellence for high school student drama performances. He was also chosen as a state finalist in the highly competitive Australian 'Class Clowns' Stand Up Comedy competition.Since graduating from high school in 2017, Hal wrote, produced and was the lead actor in his own Australian teen comedy feature film 'Bilched.' The films initial distribution was through a limited test season in which all sessions were sold out prior to entering into various festivals in Australia and Internationally. Bilched was subsequently released nationally through Event Cinemas over the 'schoolies' week period.Bilched was accepted into the Chelsea Film Festival 2019 and was extremely successful, winning Best Screenplay - Hal Cumpston, Best Supporting Actor - Fred Du Rietz and Grand Prix Best Feature Film.The performance of 'Bilched' drew the attention of an international talent management agent in Los Angeles who asked for a showreel of Hal's work. Hal subsequently landed, with his first American audition, a lead role in the US mega-franchise, 'The Walking Dead - The World Beyond'.
