Gary Hymes first started as an Actor/Stuntman in 1978. He soon realized his potential behind the camera, as a Stunt Coordinator. In 1984 while working for Stephen J Cannel, Gary approached Stephen to Direct an upcoming underwater sequence. After a brief conversation, Stephen asked him to Shot List the Sequence, and present it to him at 8:00am the next morning. He went one step further, after completing the Shot List, Gary wanted to leave no doubt in Stephen's mind, that he understood the Art of Storytelling, and the shots that would be essential to have an Action Packed completed Sequence. Gary spent the night Drawing Schematics and Story Boards. Only having enough time for a quick shower, He raced to the office, and presented Stephen with the shot list, and the Boards. Stephens first comment was "Where did you find the time to do all this". He then picked up the phone, and called several other producers and Directors into his office. They were all looking over the material, and after several minutes, Stephen turned to Gary and said, " Congratulations, you are the new 2nd unit Director". Gary went on to Direct 2nd unit on "Stingray", and "T.J. Hooker" before moving on to feature films. Since then He has had the opportunity to work with the Industry's top Directors and Producers.
