Frida Torresblanco is a member of the Academy and an award-winning producer based in New York. After studying Film and Literature in Madrid, she has produced highly prestigious projects, including The Dancer Upstairs (directed by John Malkovich), The Assassination of Richard Nixon (starring Sean Penn), and Cronicas (directed by Sebastian Cordero and starring Johnny Leguizamo). The Hollywood Reporter named her among the 50 Most Powerful Latinos in Hollywood; she was number 13 on the same magazine's Latin Women Power 25 list.Torresblanco, as a partner of Alfonso Cuarón, created Esperanto, a production company where she worked for more than nine years as CEO. She produced with Cuarón and Guillermo del Toro Pan's Labyrinth (2006), which won three Oscars and three BAFTA UK awards. The film also won the Palm d'Or and a Golden Globe.Torresblanco founded Braven Films in partnership with Eric Laufer and Giovanna Randall. Braven Film's first project was Magic Magic (2013) directed by Sebastian Silva starring Michael Cera, Juno Temple, Emily Browning, and Catalina Sandino Moreno.Braven independently produces films with universal appeal. Their goal is to be a home for international talent, giving them the freedom and financial support they deserve to produce high-quality, self-voiced TV series, films, and documentaries.Braven recently produced Disobedience (2017), an adaptation of the original novel by Naomi Alderman, written by Rebecca Lenkiewicz and Sebastian Leilo who directed it, starring Rachel Weisz (The Favourite), Rachel McAdams (Spotlight), and Alessandro Nivola (American Hustle) produced in conjunction with Film4, Film Nation and Ed Guiney (Room).An extensive list of films are being developed at Braven Films including 'Satan is Real' starring Ethan Hawke (Training Day) and Alessandro Nivola (American Hustle), 'Stolen Girl' directed by James Kent (The Aftermath), 'Crooked Heart' in association with Rachel Weisz. 'Visceral', a thriller directed by Frederic Jardin (Spiral), is in co-production with Marco Cerqui (A Prophet). The slate includes TV series and documentaries.Viacom International Studios (VIS) recently announced an exclusive first-look deal with the renowned producer Frida Torresblanco and her production company Braven Films, to develop and produce international content in different languages.As part of the deal with Viacom, two exciting television series are in development; 'Balenciaga' with James Kent ("Testament of Youth") and 'Artemisia', written by Vanessa Alexander. The two projects will bring together great teams, to tell extraordinary stories of these historical figures.Frida has participated in more than 50 film industry panels in London, Madrid, Argentina, Canada, and the United States. Her films have been screened at Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, TIFF, and Sundance.
