Born and raised in Connecticut, Felipe is the oldest child of a Pentecostal, middle class family. He excelled in school and by the time he got to high school, wanted to join the National Honor Society. Realizing that he needed to have extracurricular activities in order to be accepted, he joined many of them including the drama club. His first show was the musical "Sweet Charity" and he immediately found a new passion. This show changed his occupational aspirations from attorney to actor. He maintained his academic prowess and graduated near the top of his class. He was accepted to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where he studied acting and musical theater. After graduating early, he began auditioning for musical theater projects and spent two years doing regional and summer stock theater. He took a break from the business to manage a dental office in Philadelphia which he helped build from the ground up. In 2012, he hung up his manager hat and moved to LA to begin pursuing his acting career once again.
