Erik White is a veteran of music videos and commercials and holds a record 3 BET Viewers Choice Video of the Year awards as well as an MTV Best Male video award. In addition, directed finished his first feature film, "Lottery Ticket" starring Ice Cube, based on an original story that Erik created. He already conquered the world of music video and commercials. And with his foot now firmly planted in Hollywood, this swift moving visual stylist is excited about what the future will hold.Born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens and New Jersey, Erik White has always possessed a deep passion for music and film. When he finds the time, he still produces music at his house and has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old. As a kid, he spent countless hours at the movie theater watching films as a way to stay out of trouble. That's where the love and appreciation of film began. He graduated from CMA in New York with a degree in sound engineering and became a highly sought after mixer in the city. In 1997, Erik White visited his Uncle - rap video top dog Hype Williams - on the set of a video shoot. Realizing there was a process to directing, Erik began to observe from the fringe while operating the sound equipment on Hype's videos, and then learning every other department on set. He quickly learned about the camera, lenses, and their relationship to composition. He would carry a stack of cinematography books with him wherever he went. In 1999, Erik was asked to do second unit work on Hype's videos. After two years of providing the quality of work Hype demanded and expected, it was time for Erik to do his thing. In the short span of time he's been directing, Erik has clearly found and developed his own style. He is the driving force behind many of today's most compelling and entertaining videos, working with established artists like Chris Brown, Keri Hilson, Lil Wayne, Mary J Blige, Diddy, Christina Aguilera, Fabolous, and Ludacris, among others. He has appeared on MTV, BET, and even Oprah. Erik was also a speaker on a panel at the CMJ music conference alongside the heads of MTV and BET discussing the state of music video. Erik has recently worked on the TV show Community, shadowing Joe Russo, and is shooting 6 episodes for the TBS series "Are We There Yet?" starring Terry Crews. Additionally, he is directing "The Glee Project" for Oxygen. He even finds time as a contributing editor for the popular Show Girls Magazine, a publication that scours the nation for the next top video models.Partial credit for Erik's winning sensibilities and storytelling skills can go to the influence of film making greats like Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, and Alfred Hitchcock.
