David Jennings is a stage, television and film actor. David Jennings is a stage, television and film actor. He appeared on Broadway alongside Fantasia, Patti LaBelle, Babyface, and Vanessa Williams in After Midnight, in Hands On A Hardbody, with Sarah Jessica Parker in Once Upon A Mattress and as the original "Streetsinger" in Brooklyn The Musical. He also appeared as the lead in The Genius Of Ray Charles on London's West End and as Curtis Taylor Jr. opposite Jennifer Holliday in Dreamgirls at Atlanta's Fox Theatre. Mr. Jennings received a Los Angeles Ovation Award nomination (Best Featured Actor in a Musical) for his portrayal of "Jake" in the West Coast premiere of Side Show, as well as a NAACP Award for co-starring in the Los Angeles production of Sister Act: The Musical with Dawnn Lewis. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for the 30th Anniversary Recording of Ain't Misbehavin' with Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis. Other notable roles include Coalhouse Walker, Jr. in Ragtime, John in Miss Saigon, Porgy in Porgy & Bess, Simon Sr. in Kinky Boots, Clopin in the Las Vegas premiere of Notre Dame de Paris, and as the replacement for BeBe Winans in the concert tour of The Civil War with Larry Gatlin. Mr. Jennings has performed alongside legendary Motown icons Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson and has shared the stage with such show business luminaries as Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Sidney Poitier and Maya Angelou. As a concert artist, he has appeared throughout the world, including a special New Year's Eve performance before King Hassan II of Morocco at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, as well as Fourth of July festivities at the White House for the President and First Lady. On screen, Mr. Jennings guest starred on the FX television drama The Shield with Michael Chiklis and Glenn Close, on the CBS police drama Blue Bloods, and in comedy sketches on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
