David Denowitz was born and raised in Cambridge, Maryland, a quiet farming town on the bucolic Eastern Shore of Maryland. His father, Irving Denowitz, was a podiatrist who was born in Poland and moved to New York City as a young child, prior to the Holocaust. His mother, Ruthann Denowitz, was a high school English teacher, as well as the owner of a dress boutique in Cambridge, and was born and raised in the Catskills. Although Jewish, David proudly attended two different Catholic high schools, including Saints Peter and Paul, in Easton, Maryland, and Saint Mary's, in Annapolis, Maryland, graduating from the latter. David holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Omicron Delta Epsilon (Economics Honor Society). David also holds a J.D. from NYU Law School, and practiced corporate law for over 20 years, the majority of which was spent as a Partner at the New York office of Epstein Becker & Green, a national law firm known in particular for its health law and labor law practices. David's interest in acting began at 14, when he portrayed Oliver Twist in the musical "Oliver", and he went on to appear as a principal in numerous other plays and musicals during his academic career. And then he pushed it all aside to have a career in the law. That is, until 2011, when the acting bug bit him again. David lives in Westport, Connecticut and is married to Jill Denowitz, M.D., a internist in private practice in Westport. Together they have three children, Lauren, Steven and Jonathan, all three of whom graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (Go Blue!!) and none of whom has demonstrated any inclination to follow their Dad into acting. He likes to play chess, read non-fiction, and collect rare coins, and manages to engage in some non-nerdy pursuits as well. A gym rat, he begins each day with the treadmill, the elliptical and weightlifting,
