David Campbell, a native of Santa Cruz, CA has been the most consistent and successful American competitor on the Japanese Ninja Warrior (Sasuke) obstacle course television show. Growing up David spent most of his days playing in the forest or drawing superheros. He became interested in Martial arts at an early age and has trained in Katate, Aikido, Ninjutsu and Jujitsu.David discovered rock climbing in 1994 when he joined a youth climbing program at Pacific Edge climbing gym. He immediately took to it and this was his primary athletic training prior to Ninja Warrior. In 2006 David had just lost his home to a house fire and was staying the night at his brother's house who happened to have cable. Flipping through the channels he came across Ninja Warrior and it instantly resonated with him.David works as a freelance illustrator and loves creating comic book art, and also runs the sound and lighting at a night club in San Jose, CA. A singer and guitarist David has played in several bands in the bay area, most notably a rock band called "The Nothing" and a Black Sabbath Tribute band called "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath".In addition to his success on the show, David is most known for building a "Backyard Midoriyama" training course, and has trained many other top competitors.
