Darren Whitfield was brought up in Barnsley, South Yorkshire where he attended Wombwell High School and latterly Barnsley College. At an early age Darren knew he wanted to be involved in TV and films, initially as a stuntman. However, it was his writing that showed early promise having a comedy game show made in to a pilot by Yorkshire Television (who are part of the ITV network). Although never commissioned for a series it showed his writing potential and Darren has since gone on to write many comedy sketches and gags for TV and radio. It wasn't until his 30's Darren decided to turn his interests more to performing as well as writing, with his first chance coming performing sketches in "The Cage".In 2009, Darren played John Walker in the rough and raw crime thriller "The Crew" starring Scot Williams, Kenny Doughty, Stephen Graham and Rory McCann. "The Crew" was based on Kevin Sampson's Liverpool gangland novel "Outlaws".Despite describing himself as "Having a face you could rarely forget" Darren continues to move forward with his acting, whilst not forgetting his writing and is always working on new comedy projects. In 2010 Darren was forced to take a lengthy break from acting due to a serious injury he sustained while playing football. He did, however, utilize this time to do more writing, and started work on a script for a comedy drama based in South Yorkshire. 'Exhausted' (working title) is under review by several production companies with a view to it being optioned for a pilot episode. In 2013 'Exhausted' (working title) was optioned and a pilot episode is planned to go in to pre-production in 2014. Current actors verbally attached to the project are Dean Andrews, Kenny Doughty and Shaun Dooley. Show less «
