Native American actor, and Stand up comedian Dakota Black came from a rough place to get to where he is now. After the Suicide of his brother, Dakota became very angry, and pushed those close to him away. Drinking, partying, and homelessness were all he knew until fate stepped in. The Native American found himself in a California Prison wondering where he went wrong. After his release Dakota decided to become a commercial diver. He thought that he could not be emotionally hurt while underwater. He graduated the dive school, and went on to become what he set out to be, so he could forget society. This lasted a few years until once again he found himself back in a California State prison for the second time in his life, because again anger had taken a hold of him. This time would be different, and it would change his life forever. It was here that other Native Americans took Dakota under their wings, and taught him the Native way, and how to walk the Red Road. It was in this prison that he sweated for the first time with the other Natives in search of what the Creator wanted for him. Upon his release he checked into a rehab so he could deal with the deep underlying issues that kept him returning to prison. A few months after leaving the rehab he would throw his hat into the Stand up comedy arena. Mr. Black became quite good in a short time, and started performing all over the country including Native American reservations, so he could give back to the people who gave him his life back. Suicide would strike his life two more times. Two uncles committed suicide a few years apart from one another. This pushed Dakota to get into Suicide prevention. He worked on the suicide hot lines, ran suicide survivor groups, and went back to school to get his Psychology degree to help others dealing with suicide issues. It was during one of his comedy shows that a casting agent saw him and asked if he did any acting. The answer was no. Unknowing the man was a casting director Dakota was curious why he was asked about acting. The man explained he was a casting director, and informed Dakota he had a unique look, and he thought Dakota would be good in television, and movies. The rest as they say is history.....
