Charmel Catrell steps into Hollywood by capturing the attention of NAACP award winning playwright and director David E. Talbert, in his new reality show entitled David E. Talbert presents "Stage Black." Charmel managed to secure herself a spot on the show out of thousands of hopefuls by wowing the judges with her impressive monologue. After weeks and weeks of enduring sometimes difficult theatrical performances it finally paid off when she was crowned the best actress in the competition. Talbert awarded Charmel with not only the Lead role in his next stage production, but she was also offered a developmental deal with TV-One.A native of St. Louis, Missouri, but raised in San Antonio Charmel graduated from High School at the tender age of 16. She attended the University of Missouri at St. Louis, but after only one year of college she decided that acting was what she really wanted to do. Charmel eventually packed up all of her belongings and headed to Los Angeles, where she soon found out that the career she had chosen would not be easy to come by. No stranger to hard work, Charmel paid her dues by doing extra work on set, while gaining the experience she needed.In 2006 Charmel landed a small role as a dancer in Disney's High School Musical Dance Along teaching and performing all of the popular dance moves to the hit movie High School Dance, where she performed alongside rising stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale.With her feet now in the door, and a new developmental deal for her own show in the works she is definitely one rising star to watch!
