Born in New York City, began career as a regional theatre actress. First appeared in her play Joined at the Head in 1992 at the Manhattan Theatre Club which won that year's Oppenheimer Award and was nominated for a Drama Desk and Obie. Other award winning plays include Life in the Trees (Davie Award) and The Sleeper (Kaufman and Hart Award for Best New American Comedy.)
