Born in Thame, Oxfordshire, where her paternal family have lived for over 500 years, going back to the Tudor Courts of Henry VII and Henry VIII, Cate Fowler did her early training under Isobel Van Beers in Oxford. After attending GSA, one of her first leading roles was as Avonia Bunn in the BBC adaptation of "Trelawney of the Wells" a part that Dame Maggie Smith also a former student of Isobel Van Beers, had played at The National Theatre in London. Cate has worked extensively in Theatre as well as Film and Television and for two consecutive years presented the IVCA Awards at The British Film Institute.
