Candace Woods was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was raised in a middle class household in the Kwa-Zulu Natal bush veld. Her mother, is a Montessori school teacher and her father is a carpenter. She started dance at the age of three and was in a dance troupe at age nine. She also competitively show jumped her horses and performed in school plays. During high school, her family immigrated to Vancouver, Canada. She went on to study a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Victoria. After finishing university she studied videography and film production, then while on a year long back packing trip in South America, she realized that she wanted to be on the other side of camera, possibly as a host or reporter. Candace went on to study a diploma program in Acting for Theatre, Film & Television at Vancouver's William Davis Centre and fell in love with acting.
