Award winning Bruce Neckels has 40 years of professional experience in the entertainment industry. His acting credits in numerous film, television and stage productions brings another level of creativity to his writing. Bruce is writing A Matter of Conscience, a biographical account of his life in the '60s. The book includes his intensely personal experiences with the Vietnam War and the price he paid for being against it along with the rewards that followed.He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Francisco State College, in Radio-Television Broadcasting, with a minor in Drama. His first break as a writer came in 1989 and since then, has scripted more than 700 episodes for daytime and prime time television earning three EMMY® nominations and the Writers Guild of America Award.Prior to his writing career, Bruce worked as an actor in theatre, feature films and television. His theater background is extensive with many national tours throughout the United States and Canada in his credits. Bruce returned to acting in 2012.It is his tireless, dedicated efforts in civic and community affairs for which Bruce will be remembered. He is a Director on the Board and served 2 years as the President of The Studio City Chamber of Commerce; is the Chairman of the CBS/SCCC Fireworks Festival for 5 years; served two term as PTSA President of Walter Reed Middle School, is the President of the North Hollywood High School Zoo Magnet Parent Council and sits on the School Site Council.Bruce has tutored a child at Colfax Elementary once a week for over three years. "It's part of the Wonder of Reading program," said Bruce, who played an important role in getting a brand new library at Colfax, then organized the volunteer committee to help children become better readers. Bruce was presented with the prestigious President's Volunteer Service Award in recognition of his sustained volunteer service.Bruce is married to Wendy Neckels, a former television director now working in real estate for Dilbeck Real Estate.
