Betty Buckley was born in Big Spring, Texas to Betty Bob and Ernest Buckley. She attended Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth. She was crowned "Miss Fort Worth" in 1966, and was runner-up in the Miss Texas competition. While Betty has always been a product of Broadway, the roles in which she played before-the-camera are mesmerizing. She made her film debut appearance in Brian De Palma's Carrie (1976). She played the part of Miss Collins, the title-character's nurturing and concerned teacher. She went on to play Sondra Walker, Harrison Ford's on-screen wife in Roman Polanski's Frantic (1988), Suzanne Fitzgerald, the on-screen birth mother of prisoner Ryan O'Reily in HBO's Oz (1997), and the ever-so-creepy Mrs. Jones in M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening (2008). Show less «
