Beth E. Barry is an American actor with Irish-Croatian ancestry. She is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has traveled extensively and lived in Japan, Korea, England and Mexico working as an English public school teacher and professor. She lives in Hawaii when she is not traveling to do TV, film or theatre work. By the age of 10, Beth had been nominated into "the gifted and talented" program at her public school and started taking voice lessons and acting in high school musicals that required children. "The Most Happy Fella," "Annie Get Your Gun" and "The Pajama Game" were her first three musical comedies. She studied classical music, including violin and piano, and participated in school productions, ensembles and regional competitions. Her first love was opera, for which she trained and earned a spot at the Pittsburgh opera's summer youth program, but as life would have it, events took her down a TV/film production path as a university student. She graduated from Ohio University in Athens with a Bachelor of Science in Communications focusing on radio and TV production. Shortly after graduating, she began work at The Magic Lantern in Pittsburgh which led her to a corporate communications job in Washington, D.C. After the bank she was working for became a casualty of the Savings and Loan crisis, Beth felt the need to become involved in social consciousness and transformation work. She went back to school to be a teacher and then went to Japan to begin her career abroad. Unbeknownst to Beth, she had landed in the karaoke capitol of the world. All of the training she did made her a popular teacher to hit the karaoke boxes with after lessons. She acted with the Tokyo International Players and joined the Tokyo "Lysistrata" cast on March 3, 2003 as actors all around the world performed this play on the same day to discourage war in Iraq. After earning a Master of Arts in Teaching degree and several successful years teaching at the university level in Japan and Korea, Beth came back to the USA to feed more of her passion for the performing arts. She first was cast with Hawaii Opera Theatre in "South Pacific" and then later joined the cast of "Faust" and "Aida" among other operas over several seasons. At the same time, Beth began pursuing TV and film work that came to the islands and was first cast as a replacement for a psych patient on "Lost." This was followed with several appearances on Hawaii Five-0 which led to Beth earning her SAG-AFTRA card and enjoying many TV and film acting opportunities that came to Oahu. Beth has also performed on local musical comedy and dramatic stages in Hawaii and considers her role as Nancy Hanks in the Abraham Lincoln biographical play "Heritage" one of her favorites. She has studied with Margie Haber in Hollywood, Scott Rogers in Honolulu and most recently in New York with Caryn West, Karen Kohlaas and The Upright Citizens Brigade. She has also studied in Bristol and London while teaching British poetry and American literature in the UK. In 2016, Beth was a featured Farrell Clan woman, one of Big Foster's girls, in Season 1 of "Outsiders on WGN-America. Her skills from studying violin as a teenager came in handy during the filming of this series. Show less «
