Born in England, Benedict Carver graduated from Edinburgh University with an M.A. in Spanish and Politics. He started his career in entertainment as a film reporter for Variety.In 1999, Carver joined Sony Pictures' genre division, Screen Gems, rising to become its senior vice president of acquisitions and co-productions. He was involved in a string of successful releases for the studio including "Resident Evil," "Resident Evil: Apocalypse," "Underworld" and "Silent Hill", among others.Carver was also responsible for acquiring a slew of critically lauded specialized dramas, including "Girlfight," the Oscar-nominated "El Crimen del Padre" and Golden Globe-nominated "The Squid and The Whale".In 2005, Carver left Screen Gems to produce the post-apocalyptic thriller "Doomsday," directed by Neil Marshall. His other credits include "Tekken", based on the bestselling videogame. He also executive produced the forthcoming dance movie "Beat The World".In 2009 Carver formed Dark Hero Studios, together with writer/director David Hayter ("X-Men") to focus on the production of film and television properties.
