Andy Schroeder is the director, co-producer and co-writer of the 2016 feature film 'Distiller'. Born to parents Bob and Grace Schroeder, he was raised in East Setauket, NY where he attended Ward Melville High School. Andy credits the school's many music, performance and arts focused classes as giving him a solid foundation for, and interest in, pursuing his career in entertainment. He has a background in audio and video/film technology with degrees in music industry and audio production from SUNY College at Oneonta.Andy produces programming for local television on Long Island, a job which encompasses many different disciplines; including directing multi-camera live events and in-studio talk shows, capturing on the spot news, mastering programming for broadcast, digital asset encoding and broadcast engineering. He has independently produced three sitcom pilots as well as a number of short films and music videos.Andy has produced, engineered and/or mixed commercially available audio recordings including those of Atomic Fury, for whom he is also the lead vocalist and bass player. He is a classically trained musician having performed in groups and solo on trumpet, guitar, bass, piano and voice.All of Andy's independent productions have have been in the science fiction and supernatural genres and have incorporated a large amount of practical and visual effects work for micro-budget independent films. On these projects he has acted as an effects artist and supervisor; creating miniatures and puppets, operating high speed cameras on blue and green screen stages, pulling chroma-keys, rotoscoping, digital compositing, match moving and more.As part of Distiller's promotional campaign he was the artist/writer of a weekly comic strip based on characters from the film which ran for an entire year uninterrupted on the film's website and social media.
