Andrew McEvoy graduated from the University of Victoria Creative Writing program, a degree which predictably led to occupations as diverse as ski instructor, security guard, and portrait photographer. During that same era he also managed to be a contributing editor and cartoonist for the first issues of Adbusters Magazine and ghostwrite an Algonquin Chief's non-fiction manuscript on First Nation's tribal laws. He then spent a decade in the camera department as a member of IATSE 669 working on various features, MOWs, and TV series. As a screenwriter he has produced credits in film, episodic television, and video games, as well as a sadly impressive subterranean wealth of projects lost in development. In 2001 his script The Pixelated Man was the unanimous winner of the Slamdance Sci-Fi Screenplay Competition and was subsequently developed through James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment. One of his recent screenplays, Sounding Line, was featured at the 2015 Whistler Film Festival Writing Lab. He is presently working as a Writing Instructor in Film Production at Vancouver Film School, mentoring over 200 short films produced annually, all while continuing to create his own projects. He considers himself a walking, talking encyclopedia of obscure '70s and '80s punk rock.
