Andrene Ward-Hammond is a native of Brooklyn, New York. Growing up in a Jamaican household, she was exposed to a diverse element of culture and art. Her love for entertaining grew from observing the figures in her family and neighborhood, as well as, the films she digested growing up. Many of her influences were powerhouse performers like Whoopi Goldberg, Cicely Tyson, Don Cheadle and Meryl Streep. While in high school, Andrene cut her acting teeth studying improv at the local Jamaica Arts Center. She furthered her studies at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA majoring in Communications with a concentration in PR and minoring in Psychology.Upon moving to the South, Andrene brought her New York City hustle with her. She continued honing her skills as a member of the improv comedy troupe, Strange Groove and taking weekly acting classes at Premier Actors' Network. It was here she met her longtime agent, Alexander White.Andrene broke onto the acting scene as a character actress, making memorable appearances in television shows like, NCIS: New Orleans, Complications, and Being Mary Jane. With roles in FX's Atlanta and as caretaker Laura in period racial awards season romance, Loving, Ward-Hammond can be found on FOX's newest musical drama by Lee Daniels, Star and indie drama, Strange Weather with Holly Hunter and Carrie Coon.The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Andrene's daughter, Tyla Harris is also a budding young actress making her mark in Hollywood. She plays "Esther" in the History Channel war drama, Six. Andrene, as well as her daughter are apart of the next breed of actresses leaving a lasting effect in Hollywood.
