A.J. Jarrell has been a vegetarian his entire life. In fact, his parents became vegetarians two years before he was born and he has never strayed from that lifestyle. Even more impressive, this dedicated personal trainer is a lifetime natural bodybuilder.A.J. has trained religiously for over 20 years. Inspired by the television show "The Incredible Hulk, A.J. strove for the kind of physique that would mimic the character.As one of Arizona's Top Personal Trainers, A.J. is living proof that with a solid diet and consistant workout routine, a vegetarian can indeed be competitive. In 2004 he won the L.A. Championships Novice Heavyweight and Overall Novice titles. Then in 2005 he took top honors at the NPC Natural Western Regional Championship winning the Overall title. A.J. has also competed nationally & placed 7th place out of 17 competitors in the Light Heavy weight class at the 2006 Team Universe in New York. A.J. also competed at the 2007 Team Universe & took 7th Place again as a Heavyweight competitor. His final Bodybuilding competition was at the 2008 Natural Western Regional Competition in Phoenix, Arizona. He ended his bodybuilding career with an Overall victory winning both the Heavyweight Class as well as winning the entire show.Now in 2013 A.J. decided to change things up & get back to his roots. He has gone back to his first love...Art. He has picked up where he left off & is working on completing a series of famous jazz musicians. The first of his jazz paintings was Joe Williams. A.J. actually sent a framed copy of his painting to the Late Joe Williams wife Jillean Williams. She ended up calling A.J. & sent him some memorabilia of Joe Williams. As this is being written A.J. is in the process of painting jazz legends such as Buddy Tate, Al Grey, Jay"Hootie" McShann, Milt Hinton, Benny Carter, Marshall Royal, & many more.
