Aaron Brookner is an American-British director, writer, and producer based in London. As a director his latest film Uncle Howard was nominated for a BIFA, was a NY Times Critics Pick, one of 10 Best Documentaries of the Year by Hollywood Reporter, and Dias de Cine Best Documentary winner (Spain). The film premiered in the U.S. in Competition at Sundance Film Festival, and had its international premiere at the Berlinale. It was shown in some of the most important film festivals around the world including San Sebastian, New York Film Festival, Bafici, Outfest and more than 70 others. He produced the remastered version of Burroughs: The Movie (1983), directed by his uncle Howard Brookner. The film was re-released theatrically by Janus Films and on a special Blu-ray and DVD by the prestigious Criterion Collection. The film was presented at the 2014 New York Film Festival with a panel discussion featuring Jim Jarmusch, Tom DiCillo, Aaron Brookner and James Grauerholz, manager of William S. Burroughs Estate.Previously, in 2012, Brookner wrote and directed The Silver Goat, the first feature film created exclusively for iPad, released as an App. It was downloaded in 24 territories and a top 50 entertainment app in the UK. His short documentary, The Black Cowboys (2004), won the Audience Award at Rochester International Film Festival.He co-wrote and produced Listen, the first ever English-Portuguese co-production, directed by Ana Rocha de Sousa. Listen was the most awarded film at the Venice Film Festival 2020 with two Lions (Special Jury and Best debut feature) and four independent awards.He is co-director of Pinball London where he is developing films and series as a producer, writer, and director.
