At 21 Vicky Jewson got her start in feature film making early with her directorial debut (Lady Godiva), a romantic comedy starring Phoebe Thomas and Matthew Chambers. However it is her second effort at 26 years old with the film (Born of War) that is marking her as a talent to watch. Vicky captured the attention of Los Angeles based Arclight Films one of the world's leading international sales companies for theatrical, television and home video. The film, starring Sofia Black D'Elia and James Frain, had its debut screening at Berlin in 2013 and is opening in Japanese cinemas on 1st February 2014 marking the beginning of its worldwide distribution. The British premiere is rumoured to be held in Spring 2014.Her films reinforce the controversial role of the young, powerful, female protagonist. Her fast paced visceral directing/editing style pushes the film beyond its independent budget. Jewson has clearly found her natural home in the action genre and is attracting attention for her ability to create sophisticated, commercially viable films at such a young age. She is a recipient of the 'Shell Arts and Culture Women Of The Future Award' and is supported by critically acclaimed Producers Julia Verdin (Stander, Merchant of Venice), Mick Southworth (The Long Good Friday, The Berlin Job) and distributor of (Short Bus, Prairie Home Companion and Open Range) and Martin McCabe, Executive Producer for (The Cuban Way and The Ramones) and distributor of multiple major award-winning films like (Cinema Paradiso, Gods & Monsters and The Last Day.)
