The MANEGLIA-SCHÉMBORI duo originates from the strong passion that Juan Carlos Maneglia and Tana Schémbori have for film. Consequently the short films, telefilms and tv series they produce seek to find their own language and to install a national cinematography to identify them. The history of this pair on short films has its start in Juan Carlos Maneglia's short fictions from the 80's. Also some short films such as: "PRESOS", "BOCETOS", "TODOS CONOCEMOS EL FINAL", "LA CLASE DE ORGANO", and "ARTEFACTO DE PRIMERA NECESIDAD" (MUST HAVE ARTIFACT) co-directed with Tana Schémbori, have represented Paraguay at many festivals around the world, winning several international awards. They join to work together formally for the first time in 1990 with the TV miniseries "LA DISPUTA". This valuable experience allowed them both to experience the beginning of a rewarding career. Since then, they have made together several successful materials for TV, video and cinema. In 1999 they make "SAY YES" and "EXTRAÑOS VECINOS" (THE HOLE), both produced by the New York Film Academy and released in New York. In 2000 they release "AMOR BASURA" (TRASH LOVE) in movie theaters in Asunción. This short film remained in theaters for two months and a half, leading the top films at that time. The film "HORNO ARDIENTE" was completed shortly after.Between 2000 and 2002, they created and produced the following telefilms: "LA DECISION DE NORA","CANDIDA" and "VILLA KOEYU", all of them 100% Paraguayan and produced by PSI-PROMESA. These telefilms were, in some ways, the main precursors of the series that came after. In March of 2005 "GONZALEZ VS BONETTI", a 13-chapter series was broadcast on Channel 4 Telefuturo in prime time. Such was the success and good response of public and critics, that in October of that year, "GVSB, LA REVANCHA", returned to television in a second installment of 13 chapters. This series, created and directed by MANEGLIA-SCHÉMBORI, has been sold abroad and was seen at that time at Hispanic channels in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.Later "LA CHUCHI" was produced; its story was based on a national song. It was released in June of 2006 and meant not only the third TV series project of MANEGLIA- SHEMBORI but also the consolidation of TV fictions nationally. It was aired on Channel 13 RPC on prime time during that year.In 2009, after realizing the need to keep teaching young people in the fields of performing arts and acting, they opened TIA (Taller Integral de Actuación), an "Acting Workshop", where children, teens and adults are trained in this area.Over the years, Juan Carlos and Tana, with their talent and ability, have inspired others to follow the same path. The challenges continue, and their loyalty to fiction TV too, the goal now is to translate it on the big screen with their first feature film: "7 CAJAS". Show less «
