Writer, producer, director Adam Ripp is an award-winning filmmaker. In 1992 Adam produced Bryan Singer's first feature film, Public Access, and was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival. Public Access was written by Oscar winning writer Chris McQuarrie.In 1994 Adam began writing Black & White, a character driven story about a young black man from Watts who goes against his friends and family and joins the Los Angeles Police Department. In order to capture the true essence of this world Adam decided to fulfill a lifelong dream to become a police officer. He graduated the police academy in January of 1995 at the top of his class. Vega Baby Productions is packaging Black & White with Adam attached to direct.Adam used his personal experiences to help him write, produce and direct the award-winning feature film Gang Tapes, a coming of rage story about a thirteen year-old boy chronicling his descent into gang life with a stolen video camera. Gang Tapes was financed and distributed by Lionsgate in 2001. Adam won multiple awards including Best Director at Variety's DVD Premiere Awards and the Melvin Van Peebles Award at the San Francisco Black Film Festival. Gang Tapes won Best Ensemble Cast at the New York Underground Film Festival.In 2004 Adam created Hollywood Vice for Fox Television which he wrote, executive produced and directed. He also created and developed a script for TNT which told the true story of the world's very first SWAT team.In 2005 Adam wrote a horror/thriller entitled Scavenger for Beacon Pictures and in 2006 he created a scripted television series called Darius for MTV. He also developed and executive produced the animated movie review series The Cowboy Critic for Lionsgate's CinemaNow.com.During and after the writer's strike Adam produced reality television including Inside American Jail for TruTV, Busted for MTV, Speeders for TruTV, Jail for MyNetTV and Speeders Fight Back for TruTV. He also created and executive produced Matched By Design for Style Network.In 2010 Adam developed, packaged and produced Gambit written by Academy Award winners Joel & Ethan Coen and starring Academy Award winner Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman and Stanley Tucci.In 2013 Adam developed, packaged and produced Everly starring Academy Award nominee Salma Hayek.In 2016 Adam wrote, produced and directed the award-winning feature film Devil's Whisper which was acquired for distribution through Sony Pictures.Adam is represented by Trevor Engelson at Underground Management.
