It's a tricky business, trying to understand someone as publicity-shy as media mogul Rupert Murdoch. He is, this documentary asserts in its opening frames, an enigma. Tricky word, enigma.
This three-part series, a sort of Dynasty without the shoulder pads, was the latest attempt to unravel the enigma, and it showed promising signs of having the chutzpah to go further than its predecessors. .
In fact, as the show went on it became a fascinating examination, not of Murdoch, but of the people who make it their business seriously to love and/or hate him.
Director Jamie Roberts and his team had done their due diligence in the research department, turning up a trove of nuggets from the archives interspersed with pithy interviews.
