Following the adventures of Ghost-Spider, a teenager superhero that struggles against being accused of murdering her friend. But when a threat comes to earth, she teams up with other superheros to save it.
This more optimistic take on a Marvel team-up, which amounts to slightly under 30 minutes of programming, feels fresh thanks to the use of different characters with their own complicated heroic tales to tell.
From the action-heavy storytelling to the obvious connection with the larger (animated) MCU, Marvel Rising: Initiation has a little something for everyone, from the hardcore Marvel-ites to those in search of heroes they can relate to.
Diversity doesn't have to be homework, Marvel Rising says, and while Luke Cage and Jessica Jones and Tandy and Tyrone might be battling grimness, it also doesn't have to be hard. It can just... be.
It's difficult to say whether the installments reveal a creative spark moving in the right direction; with only six shorts, each one barely several minutes long, there's simply not much here as of yet.
