An ambitious photographer named Nat, who is heading for a bright future at the Los Angeles School of Arts and another man named Richard, an uncomfortable motormouth. They both meet by chance to start a long journey across the Southwest of the United States, both of which open a path to many paths with a variety of very exotic and exciting events.
Mantzoukas brilliantly juggles all the different forces of Richard's personality so that we never quite know what to make of this guy, which in turn means that we never quite know what will happen next with him and Nat.
A case of realism gone wrong, leading to a complete absence of any incentive whatsoever to care about either of the main characters, let alone get invested in the toxicity of their lives and friendship, thus destroying any real enjoyment.
Neither long nor dumb, Hannah Fidell's "The Long Dumb Road" is in reality a terrifically entertaining odd couple road comedy expertly navigated by costars Tony Revolori and Jason Mantzoukas.
