A mother bird tries to teach her little one how to find food by herself. In the process, the hungry sandpiper hatchling discovers that doing it without mom’s help isn’t so easy after she encounters a traumatic experience that she must overcome in order to survive.
Piper is effective and worth seeing because of the cinematography, and on the whole it makes a decent case for the expressive potential of photorealistic animation.
