Questions are answered in Hello Ladies: The Movie, a slight but enjoyable new HBO film that wraps up the story lines from the series and sends Stuart & Co. off into the future.
Fans of predictable romantic comedies could enjoy Hello Ladies: The Movie. Oddly, fans of the series and of Merchant in general will probably be less pleased.
Hardcore fans who stuck with the series specifically because of its wince-worthiness will likely feel they've been victims of an elaborate bait-and-switch con.
There is something enlightening in watching this show. Beyond that, Hello Ladies: The Movie is pleasant enough, even if it took saying goodbye, ultimately, to bring out its best side.
This time around Stuart has a vulnerability that makes him a lot more enjoyable to watch, even if the steps he makes toward maturity and genuine love feel a bit rushed in this home stretch.
