After Amy loses her mother in a car accident, she must uproot her life and move to Canada to live with her father, Thomas, an oddball inventor. Their relationship only blooms until the father and daughter decide to attempt to lead a flock of orphaned Canada Geese south by air.
Anna Paquin proves again what an expressive, soulful actress she is, and Daniels' madcap dad is a winning study in hippy ingenuity and indefatigability.
Its aerial scenes are wondrous, beautiful as symphonies, and worth the price of admission alone. Count as a bonus the skilled, heartfelt performance from the teen-aged star and from Mr. Daniels as her resourceful dad.
Somehow makes the story of orphaned geese entertaining.

The dynamic between Daniels' vigorous, if self-involved, artist father and Paquin's initially sullen, eventually self-discovering teenager is warmly and believably conveyed, with both thesps doing strongly individualistic work.
