Noelle was born under the Christmas Star, so she believes she has the gift to perform miracles. When conniving developer McKerrod threatens her peaceful life she and her friends determine to use this gift to ruin his plans and save their village.
This Northern Ireland-set fable steals adroitly from all kinds of classic Christmas-themed movies - a bit of Miracle on 34th Street, a dash of Nativity!, a big dollop of It's a Wonderful Life, and so on.
Against all odds, the film, though not short on Yuletide schmaltz, is pretty good, and a huge improvement on such 'family fare' as the dread Nativity franchise.
Good humour and a sincere message cut through the treacle to make an infectiously festive family movie, which wears its tinsel-covered heart on its sleeve.
