Wizard is a cab driver that other cabbies look up to. They figure he knows a lot, because hes been around a while. But he knows hes no Bertrand Russell. The way Wizard sees it, a man takes a job, and that job becomes what he is. You do a thing and that's what you are. Wizard has been a cabbie for seventeen years, but he still doesnt own his own cab. That must be what he wants: to be on the night shift driving somebody elses cab. You get a job and you become the job. One guy lives in Brooklyn. One guy lives in Sutton Place. You got a lawyer. Another guy's a doctor. Another guy dies. Another guy gets well. People are born. The way Wizard sees it, the young are lucky. They can do anything. Get laid, get drunk. You got no choice, anyway.
