Violet is in some ways, a typical sarcastic teenager with bad taste in friends who doesn't get along with her parents and just wants to fit in. She is capable of displaying nerves of steel in the face of terrifying situations. Her mother calls her fearless. She showed this by pushing her parents to buy the murder house after learning of its history and being fascinated, not frightened, by it. She is angry with her father for his infidelity and forcing her to move from Boston to Los Angeles and rebels by starting a relationship with his teenage patient Tate, despite his serious psychological issues, and against her father's wishes. She and Tate bond over feeling like outsiders with bad relationships with their families. She's a loner who is bullied at school by a group of mean girls, including Leah. She copes by cutting herself, self-medicating and being rude to her mother.Background: The 17 year old daughter of Ben and Vivien Harmon. Shows suicidal and self-harm tendencies.
