Little is known about The Hitchhiker except that his destination is Dover and he's a drifter. He is accidently hit by unlawfully wedded wife Annie Lansing on her way home, breaking his neck and supposedly killing him. However, he returns to Mrs. Lansing's car after she leaves the scene as some sort of undead revenant. He demands revenge for her sins and will stop at nothing to take Mrs. Lansing's life and sanity. The Hitchhiker endlessly says Thanks for the ride, lady! , and he can instantaneously appear by Mrs. Lansing's car. No matter what the injury, he returns, drenched in blood and still thanking Mrs. Lansing for the ride.
