Sonny is a lazy, unmotivated, tollbooth collector. He wishes life was what it used to be and that his friends were not grown up. Even though he works partially as a tollbooth collector, Sonny graduated from law school, which is were he met Kevin Gariety his best friend. Sonny gets through after a law suit involving his foot getting run over by a taxi, although his girlfriend Vanessa leaves him for a rich and older man after realizing that his life wasn't going anywhere. Sonny finds out that Kevin Gariety has a son named Julien. After assuring Kevin that he would take care of Julien (Kevin did not acknowledge him as his son) Sonny began to love Julien and wanted to adopt him. Sonny spoils Julien after having fight with his father, leading to Julien's intense behavioral problems. After Sonny grows up himself, Julien gets discipline and gets better. Sonny then meets and falls for Layla, who happens to be Kevin's girlfriend's sister. Kevin's girlfriend, Corrine, and Sonny share a mutual dislike for each other. After Social Services find out that Sonny isn't really Julien's father, they take him away and charge Sonny of fraud (he pretended he was Kevin). Sonny, Layla and his friends, including Kevin, are all lawyers and work together to get Julien back. Sonny reconciles with his father (who is ironically also a lawyer) and states his case to the judge. The judge finds him guilty and sentences him to jail. Kevin quickly stops this by refusing to press charges and states that he is Julien's father. Corrine forgives him for having a drunken affair and Kevin takes on guardianship of Julien. Sonny starts practicing law, realizing that even though he cannot be Julien's father, he can always be there for him and lets Kevin and Julien bond. A year later Kevin has married Layla and they have a child together. While at Sonny's birthday suprise at Hooter's, Sonny runs into Vanessa. She is working as a waitress. Show less «
