JEFFREY MARC ROCKLAND Jeffrey Marc Rocklands career in the arts began at age 4, when chosen by David Lean to play the role of Sasha in the MGM classic, Dr. Zhivago. Since then, he has appeared in a few films and documentaries but his primary credits have been as dancer, teacher and choreographer. Professor Rocklands training included years as a scholarship student with Joffrey Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Princeton Ballet Theatre, Scottish American Ballet and Boston Ballet. As a Soloist with Atlanta Ballet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and Principle Dancer with Bristol Ballet and Universal Ballet (Seoul, Korea), Mr. Rockland danced lead roles in many of the classic repertoire as well as contemporary works by many of this centurys most well known choreographers. As a teacher and choreographer, Rockland was company Ballet Master for Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal and also served on the faculty of UC Irvine while attending as an MFA Chancellors Fellow.From 1992-1999, Mr. Rockland ran the ballet program at the University of Northern Colorado. While in Colorado, Mr. Rockland formed Colorado Dance Theatre and the Greeley Conservatory of Dance. Additionally, he was a partner in developing the 10,000 square foot Conservatory Building which still functions as a beacon for the arts. After receiving tenure from the University of Northern Colorado, Mr. Rockland applied his business skills and developed an international import business, a mortgage company and a real estate investment company. In 2003, Mr. Rockland moved to Tucson and took a position as Ballet Instructor and Choreographer for Flor de Liz Dance Ensemble. While in Tucson Professor Rockland was the Dance Director for Salpointe Catholic High School, a Dance Teacher for Tucson Magnet High School and Dance Coordinator for the Music and Dance Academies.Rocklands work as dancer, teacher and choreographer, have taken him throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. Joining Kent University, Fall of 2015, he is passionate about developing and supporting new educational and performance opportunities for the diverse and talented pool of students assembled within the School of Theatre and Dance. As Dance Division coordinator he looks forward to helping students and faculty reach their potential by creating an atmosphere of synergy and collaboration.
