This character is loosely based on the true life personae of Eddie Nash. Eddie Nash (b. 1929) was a nightclub and restaurant owner in Los Angeles and is a convicted gangster and drug dealer. Nash is best known in real life for his involvement in the quadruple Wonderland Murders in 1981. The murders were construed by law enforcement to be retribution for a robbery of Nash's home perpetrated two days earlier by three to five men. A key player in the incident was porn actor John C. Holmes, who was later tried for the murders and acquitted. Nash and Holmes were close friends; Nash enjoyed introducing his associates to Holmes, who was notorious for his recurring cinematic role of Johnny Wadd .It is the robbery of Nash by Holmes that is loosely re-enacted in the 'Boogie Nights' film detailing Dirk Diggler and his associates robbing a well to do and violent drug dealer.
